Crowdsourcing Mornings: The Billion Seconds Institute: A Collective Learning Network

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

We need your support to fund the initial setup of the digital infrastructure required to organize a collective learning network and produce a series of podcasts, weekly newsletters and social knowledge activities. These annual activities – from live sessions to reading groups – will help you to explore, discuss and stay up to date on a broad spectrum of topics related to the mental, social and environmental dimensions of the digital technologies and internet cultures.

The Billion Seconds Institute is a non-profit, lifelong learning initiative to organize a network of specialists, advisors and communities of practice around a long-term purpose: to re-imagine the digital economy by learning collectively how to become intercitizens.

Our aim is to help you expand and cultivate holistic ways of thinking, long-term approaches and creative strategies for systemic change, always while encouraging solidarity and collective critical hope.

This social knowledge program is for anyone that is seeking a flexible, shared and safe space-time to invest their attention and experience in better understanding the complex challenges of our times.

The collective learning network of The Billion Seconds Institute is open to a broad spectrum of curious professionals who – in any number of different ways – are shaping digital ecosystems.

This includes (but is not limited to):

  •  Designers: coming from service, strategic, interaction or visual design backgrounds
  •  Strategists: working on digital strategy, branding or innovation management
  •  Storytellers: from art directors and producers to journalists, editors and writers
  •  Artists & Curators: especially for those coming from the famous intersection of art and technology 😉
  •  Researchers: working on policy, cultural trends, foresight and the not-so-famous intersection of technology and society
  •  Technologists: programmers, developers, engineers and data scientists working in Big Tech or low-tech

This is just a guide. If you fall somewhere between or beyond these labels – and whether you are freelance, employed, self-employed or unemployed – our program is designed for you to exchange ideas, inspire action and learn collectively how to become intercitizens alongside other purpose-driven peers.

As of March 29th, this project has raised $27,000 of their $21,217 goal. This project has 3 days left to raise as much as it can.  For a pledge of $24, you will get two tickets to everything session 1.  For a pledge of $59, you will get one season pass for everything sessions.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iam-internet/billion-seconds?
