Crowdsourcing Mornings: Pixels – The Electronic Dice

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Pixels are the coolest dice you’ve ever seen! Full of LEDs, smarts and no larger than regular dice, they can be customized to light up when and how you desire. Incredibly strong, smooth and sharp, they work for several hours at a time, after which you can simply recharge them with the accompanying case. Pixels know which way they roll and can communicate with your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. This means they will work with Roll20, Foundry or any one of your favorite online platforms.

Depending on the design you select, the LED lights will either shine through the entire face (Midnight Galaxy and Aurora Sky) or only through the numbers (Onyx Black and Hematite Grey).

Because of all the electronics and the battery, Pixels tend to be slightly heavier than regular dice of the same size. As a result they feel really nice in your hands, sound like proper dice, without being nearly as heavy as metal dice.

As of March 19th, this project has raised $2.6 million of their $200,000 goal. This project has 20 days left to raise as much as it can.  For a pledge of $39, you will get one dice.  For a pledge of $77, you will get two dice.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pixels-dice/pixels-the-electronic-dice?
