Roadscapes: Boiling Springs Road Bridge Closed In Ohatchee

This is a major traffic alert for those who travel Boiling Springs Road in the Ohatchee area from AL-77 down to the Talladega County line.  ALDOT has ordered the bridge crossing Cane Creek to be closed due to major structural damage.  The problem is with the pillars that hold the bridge up.

Some of the pillars are badly damaged, and in the photo below, you can see the dip on the left side of the bridge.  Enough pillars are twisted and damaged and it has structurally compromised the bridge.

This bridge will be closed for a indefinite amount of time.  The plan is to try to save the current bridge.  Until the bridge can be repaired, you will not be allowed to travel Boiling Springs Road across Cane Creek.

Detour signs are now out for people who normally travel this road.  The detour is using AL-77 and County Line Road.
