Quarantine Your Stuff
I bring groceries, mail, food deliveries, and gadgets home all the time. But I didn’t realize that these were risky ways to bring COVID-19 into the house.
I read about a good idea to stop germs from coming in from outside. To stop germs, you make a quarantine zone near your door where you drop all of the stuff you bring inside. You leave it there until a safe amount of time has passed or until you can disinfect it.
This really helps to keep your home safe from outside germs. And, it also made my house a lot cleaner. When I put all the stuff from outside into one box, I noticed a lot less clutter in my room!
It’s also a good idea to take your shoes off and keep them in the box too. You can bring a lot of dirt and germs in on your shoes.
Disinfect “High-Touch” Areas
I went a little bit crazy with disinfectant spray early in the pandemic. I was spraying everything, all the time. But I don’t think it’s healthy to constantly spray disinfectant into the air you breathe!
Plus, I was using a lot of chemicals, which isn’t good for the environment.
I leaned an awesome cleaning hack from the CDC to help manage my cleaning. They suggest disinfecting “high-touch” areas often and other areas less often. High-touch areas, if you didn’t guess already, are areas that you touch a lot. They include doorknobs, counters, remotes, railings, and chairs.
These things can be sprayed often and it only takes a few seconds to do. Doing this can make your house a lot safer in a little time.
Unfortunately, you can’t spray some high-touch areas like phones, tablets, and computers. But You can clean those using UV light with Allume or by sanitizing them with wipes for electronics.
