Meet Kylie, a friendly crocodile who lives in the canals of Paris.
But how did she get there? And what exactly does a crocodile do in Paris?
Well here comes the story… and let’s make it snappy! (Christmas is around the corner after all).
The story might be familiar for some of you. It starts when a woman buys a small pet crocodile, which quickly grows too big for her Paris apartment. Much too big, in fact.
The woman realizes that a Paris apartment is no home for a growing crocodile, so she secretly releases Kylie into the famed Canal Saint-Martin in the dead of the night.
This book follows Kylie the Crocodile from this point on. She loves the freedom of the Paris waterways (which are a lot bigger than her fish tank!) and she spends her days watching Parisians. After all, as we all know, Paris is the perfect city for people-watching.
But for Kylie, things get particularly exciting at night, when all the Parisians are asleep. She slips through the sewers and pops out in all the famous tourist sites like the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower… and even the Bon Marché department store. And it seems this croc has an appetite for designer shoes.
Each page of the story is delightfully illustrated by Lina. Children (and perhaps even adults) will enjoy finding hidden treasures, familiar Paris sights, and charming re-imaginations of the City of Light.
And with playful rhyming text, Kylie the Crocodile is perfect for those who enjoy reading out loud.
