This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Artists-In-Presidents: Fireside Chats for 2020 is a creative project directed by me,  Constance Hockaday. I am bringing together over 50 artists to recast the presidency as a multi-vocal entourage. This project serves as a provocation inspired by Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Depression-era Fireside Chats. It asks artists like Ann Hamilton, Miranda July, Eiko Otake, and Ishmael Reed  to assume authority over our collective future. I am literally asking them to directly address the nation. The idea is to find new ways to perform public leadership and to offer up some radical imagination about the future of our country– the future of us.

Some artists will deliver speeches that will be released via podcast. Some artists will write speeches and turn them into videos. Some artists will write poems and we will publish them on our website. All the artists are creating presidential portraits for our portrait gallery. To sign up for our weekly transmissions visit: www.artistsinpresidents.com or follow us on Instagram @artistsinpresidents

My role in this project is designed to serve as the communication department to all the participating artists. I hook them up with technical support like photographers, audio designers, videographers, and whatever else they need to help make their national address a reality. AND like every American president, we hook them up to professional speechwriters who will support them in finding their presidential voice.

I need your help to finish the series!! Please help me pay all the amazing designers, podcast producers, photographers, videographers, sign language interpreters, and producers that I need to hire to push this project over the finish line.

Many parallels have been drawn between both the upheavals and the possibilities of the present moment with those of the 1930s. Similar to Depression Era FDR, we have arrived at a moment of crisis and possibility BUT we, as a group of artists are not creating a Fireside Chat re-do– rather we are acknowledging that many of the national narratives of liberation have erased Indigenous voices and the voices of people that make up the majority of this country— LGBTQIA, people of color, persons with disabilities, and women. The time for an update is overdue.

With this project, we are expanding the vernacular and aesthetics of public leadership within the bodies and voices of 50 brilliant thinkers.

By backing this project at any level you’ll help me pay the artists and creative team for their brilliant work, a lot of who are facing financial instability due to the pandemic, and as thank you receive some fun rewards.THANK YOU!

I need you. Your country needs you.

As of September 14th, this project has raised $7,500 of their $23,400 goal. This project has 16 days left to raise the $23,400 or it will not be funded.
