Crowdsourcing Mornings: ComicScene Annual 2021

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Remember the classic hardback comic annuals of your youth, wrapped up under the Christmas Tree and ready for devouring before dinner?  We do, and we thought it might be a great idea to bring the annual tradition back with a modern twist.

Of course several weekly boy and girls comics that had their own annual every year have long gone but there are still some great comic creators making their own comic characters who deserve the anthology Annual treatment.  With ‘event’ comic books that can be read anytime at any age proving ever more popular we thought it would be great to get several of these characters together in one unique publication that can be enjoyed at any time.

That publication is the ComicScene Annual 2021. Twenty stories and creative teams producing ALL NEW stories neatly tied up in a 96 page hardback annual, perfect for anyone who loves comics.

The characters include Alex Automatic by Fraser Campbell and James Corcoran, Captain Commando by Colin Maxwell, Captain Cosmic by Andy W Clift, Captain Wonder by John Farrelly, Deja Who by Jim Wilkins, Dick Turpin by Steve Tanner and Roland Bird, Fathers Day by Michael Powell and Phil Elliot, Geek Girl by Sam Johnson, Girl-Knight by JGV, Gone Viral based on story by Corbin Webb, Harker by Roger Gibson and Vincent Danks, The Hoax by Samuel George London and Dan Butcher, Mahoneys by Richard Carrington and Brian Dawson, Mandy the Monster Hunter by Matt Warner and Mark Adams, Moon by Dan Thompson and Steve Penfold, Trip of a Lifetime by Peter Gouldson and Luke Haynes, Neil-Lithic and Tim by Alan Holloway and Ed Doyle, NPCTea by Sarah Millman, Shaman Kane by David Broughton, WESTERNoir by Gary Crutchley and Dave West and Whackoman by Marc Jackson.  Some you may know, some are new, all of them you can get to know and maybe explore their own comics in which they have all appeared.

All the creative teams keep ownership of their character, get paid thanks to your kickstarter support and benefit from rewards and the more people who buy the annual.

The Annual is brought to you by the team that makes ComicScene Magazine, the ComicScene Annual 2019 (which was largely reprints and material from the 1990’s zine Atomic in a 320 softback edition – available as part of the digital rewards with back issues of ComicScene)  and recently launched the History of Comics Book Collection (due out in November).

The Annual will be sent out to you in November – to have for yourself or give as a gift at Christmas.

As of August 27th, this project has raised $2,000 of their $4,623 goal. This project has 27 days left to raise the $4,623 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $14, you will get a digital copy.  For a pledge of $27, you will get one hardback copy.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/comicscene/comicscene-annual-2021?
