Crowdsourcing Mornings: SKIN DEEP | Animated Short Film

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

SKIN DEEP is an animated short film about an adolescent Black boy navigating complex personal and social issues with an emphasis on colorism, mental health and self-love.

Young Skylar, a Black boy from the rural South, grows up in Los Angeles, California with his grandparents, Willie B and Ola. Throughout the story, Skylar struggles to adjust to his unfamiliar surroundings and is often bullied because of the shade of his skin, southern accent, and his striking features. While alone, Skylar crafts the perfect plan to wash his pain away. During this, he awakens to his true power and the responsibility that comes with being an African American boy in America.

As of June 29th, this project has raised $19,000 of their $200,000 goal. This project has 53 days left to raise the $200,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get a social media shoutout.  For a pledge of $100, you will get one t-shirt.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/skindeepmovie/skin-deep-animated-short-film?
