Trainscapes: The Signal Engineers From 1962

In this edition of Trainscapes, let’s go back to 1962 and see how railway signals were changing from mechanical signals to electrical signals.  In The Signal Engineers, the film is about one of the most responsible and professional jobs on British Railways. Practical work in shop and signal box, on gantry and track side, coupled with instruction in mechanics, electricity, electronics and draughtsmanship, lead the apprentice into the intricacies of design, the excitement of research and experiment, and the intense satisfaction of being in on the changeover from old-style semaphore signalling to a new colored light system.  Enjoy below!
