Doctor Li and the crown-wearing virus is a children’s book about the first hero of this pandemic, Chinese ophthalmologist Doctor Li Wenliang. It is written by NYT bestselling author Francesca Cavallo (co-author of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls) and illustrated by Claudia Flandoli.
He was the first whistleblower to raise the alarm about a new virus that was spreading in Wuhan, China. The police tried to silence him, accusing him of spreading false information. Doctor Li died of COVID-19 on February 7th, but he became a universal symbol of the importance of science, and of freedom.
As of May 27th, this project has raised $16,000 of their $50,000 goal. This project has 30 days left to raise the $50,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $5, you will a get a PDF version.
