The New Year is just around the corner and no doubt you will be thinking “I hope it’s going to be a great year for me”. You have probably already thought of some great New Year resolutions like joining a gym, getting a romantic partner or making more money.
Most of us fail to achieve our New Year’s resolutions simply because we don’t properly plan accordingly to achieve them. Using these 4 tips, you can take on the New Year properly and achieve what you want.
- Make a Plan
This year, instead of having a New Year’s resolution, why not create a New Year plan?
Sit down and write down all the things you would like to achieve. Where do you want to be by the end for 2020, what would that life look like and how can you get there? This will help you start to create all the small tasks you need to complete to achieve your vision for the year.
Instead of saying “I’ll join a gym”, you will be able to plan “I’ll go to the gym 3 times a week with the target to weigh 80kg by the end of the year and be able to bench press 180 pounds”. See the difference?
- Be Mindful
Sometimes, humans tend to walk blindly into the future without ever really taking a moment to just be in the moment. We take our lives for granted and fail to recognize all the great things we have right now. We worry about the past and we worry about the future, forgetting that we live in the present.
This year, try to practice meditation, exercise more and make an effort to practice gratitude. Doing these things allow us to realize just how lucky we already are to have what we have. It also prompts us to improve our own lives and help others. Being mindful is the foundation of peace.
- Exercise Regularly and Eat Healthier
Many people decide that for the New Year they are finally going to get fit and healthy. So many of these people fail, why? Because they aren’t truly committed to the idea or willing to make the sacrifices required to achieve their goal.
Getting fit and healthy can be a daunting task. We live in a lazy world where most things are automated and we don’t need to do much for ourselves anymore. To get fit and healthy we have to change. Change the way we think, do and eat. It requires giving up things we enjoy like fast food and heavy nights of drinking. It’s hard work but rewarding.
Getting fit can be fun if you join classes, maybe you can benefit from the extra encouragement. Eating healthy is easier than ever, you don’t need to start eating salads every day either. Try making your diet 80% plant-based whole foods. Foods that are healthy for your body, rich with the nutrients your body needs to reach peak performance.
So many of us finish school or college and then never pick up another book. Reading is a way to continuously self-improve by learning from the knowledge and experience of others. Even fictional novels are steeped in important life lessons that can help us improve our own lives.
Try reading more in the new year. Read about things you love, read about self-improvement, love, science, business, money, fantasy or whatever you desire. Reading expands our minds, builds our IQ and can improve our lives significantly.
