Aspie Reviews: Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich Vs. Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich

Great news!  Popeye’s will return their super popular chicken sandwich on Sunday, November 3rd.  Yep, the day of the week when Chick-fil-A is closed.  I am sure Popeye’s all around the country will be super busy that day.  So to get ready for the hype train again.  I am going to offer my take on the two popular chicken sandwiches.

Popeye’s claimed they ran out of the sandwich in August, but our local Popeye’s had their chicken sandwich way past the “sell out” date claim.  I got a chicken sandwich from Popeye’s, minus the mayonnaise.  Man that stuff tastes so horrid.

Anyways, the Popeye’s chicken sandwich was super thick!  The chicken had a thick and crunchy coating, and the chicken was certainly moist and juicy.  I did notice a little lack of flavor in the chicken.  And the buns were buttered and toasted.  It was a good chicken sandwich.

And then there is the Chick-fil-A sandwich.  In my opinion, the spicy chicken sandwich is way better than their original.  The chicken is less thicker than the Popeye’s sandwich, but the flavor of the chicken is way stronger than the Popeye’s sandwich.  The outer coating is crunchy, and the spice inside the chicken is there.  The chicken is very moist and juicy, and the bun is buttered and toasted.

So, which sandwich is my favorite?  For both sandwiches, I took the pickles off, and yes pickles taste so weird and are gross.  So I only tasted the chicken and bread.  Although Popeye’s had a very thick chicken sandwich, by a small margin I still prefer Chick-fil-A.

Now don’t get me wrong, if there is only a Popeye’s in the area, or if it’s Sunday, I will get their chicken sandwich.  But if I am near a Chick-fil-A, and craving a chicken sandwich, I will get their spicy chicken sandwich, which is in my opinion the best chicken sandwich in the fast-food market.  And getting their mac and cheese and fresh squeezed lemonade, and it’s my best meal in fast-food!
