If you’re going to be in Kansas this fall, and you’re a superhero super-fan, you’ve got your work cut out for you. Dust off your superhero cape and get your comic book wishlist out! The Air Capital Comic Con: Wichita’s Premiere Comic Book and Pop Culture Expo is fast approaching. Tickets are on sale for the event taking place at Century II Convention Center on November 16 and 17, 2019. The two-day comic convention opens its doors at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It’s open until 6 p.m. on the first day of the event and closes one hour earlier at 5 p.m. on the last day.

A Long List of Vendors, Special Guests, and Exciting Programming

In addition to dozens of vendors, a line-up of incredible guests will be there, too. Many of your favorite artists and writers will be there, including Kevin Nowlan, Megan Levins, Matthew Allison, Phil Hester, John Lucas, and Scott Drummond. Last year’s convention had a special appearance by iconic actor, John Cusack, who was available for photos and signing autographs. This year holds untapped potential—anyone might drop in!

Panels, tabletop and electronic gaming, and a cosplay contest are in the works. A full schedule of events has yet to be released to the public, though. Checking the Air Capital Comic Con website regularly ensures that you won’t miss a single minute of programming while attending the event.

There will also be great opportunities for cosplay, with an ongoing cosplay contest that will award several cash prizes for different winners. You can compete in the individual category or group contest, and there are subdivisions for each that take into account your experience with the medium.

What the Event Will Cost You

VIP tickets are a verifiable steal at $15 a person. They entitle you to admission for the entire duration of the event. It also gives you a VIP badge and lanyard as well as a pack of five exclusive trading cards made just for the Con.

Hotels Near Wichita Convention Center

When searching for hotels near Wichita Convention Center online, you’ll likely come across the Hyatt Regency Wichita first. The hotel is just around the corner from the convention center, making it a favorite among Air Capital Comic Con attendees. The Holiday Inn Wichita East I-35 is also in the neighborhood. It offers a great budget-minded option for attendees.

Things to Do Around the City Between Comic Con

Wichita is jam-packed with exciting things to do, see, eat, and experience. In fact, the Century II Convention Center is near many area businesses and popular landmarks. Depending on the type of trip you’re hoping to have, you could give Blade and Timber Axe Throwing a try. That way, if you were to encounter any of The Walking Dead at Comic Con, you’ll be prepared to take them on!

The Museum of World Treasures is also thrilling. Its exhibits include dinosaurs, mummies, and even shrunken heads. If you love history and ancient artifacts, you’ll want to check out what the museum has to offer before leaving for home. You could easily schedule a visit post-Con to take in all the amazing things that you can’t see in day to day life.
