Time for the Alabama Weekend Roundup. This weekly post highlights different and unique events across Alabama or near Alabama that you should consider attending. So for this weekend, here are some events you should consider going too!

September 7 – Weather Ready Fest – Huntsville, AL

Join Weather Channel meteorologist Nick Walker and other meteorologists Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Participate in fun activities and see technology used to detect and predict the weather while learning useful preparedness and resilience techniques. Owlie Skywarn and other mascots will be there to pump up the energy. September 6-7 – Birmingham Art Walk – Birmingham, AL

Spruce up your art collection this weekend from the work of more than 100 local visual artists. Artisans will display original artwork from affordable to extravagant. Friday will open with a street festival, while Saturday focuses on family and children’s activities. Live musicians and street performers will provide the entertainment, and food and drink vendors will be available.

September 8 – Jewish Food and Culture Fest – Birmingham, AL

The Friedman Family Foundation will present the Jewish Food & Culture Fest featuring When Pigs Fly Kosher BBQ Cook-Off on Sunday. Seven Birmingham Jewish Community organizations are inviting local residents to explore the Jewish culture and traditions. Have a day filled with delicious food, friendly competition, live music, a kids’ zone and educational activities for all ages.

September 6-7 – Alabama Women in Jazz Festival in Huntsville – Huntsville, AL

In Celebration of the 200th Bicentennial year, we are getting ready for some toe stomping live jazz and blues music at the UAH west lawn (the SLAB) featuring an exclusive line up of some high-energy professional female musicians, local, regional and national! Food trucks and vendors will be on hand to provide you top service and shopping enjoyment!

September 6-7 – Foothills Festival – Jasper, AL

The Foothills Festival is a free music festival in the heart of downtown Jasper, AL. This family friendly event will include numerous national and local music acts. Hundreds of diverse vendors and artists will be lining the streets, along with a fall carnival, delicious food and drinks. This free event will be held on Friday Sept 6 starting at 5:00 pm and Saturday Sept 7 starting at Noon. The Festival will be held at the Courthouse Square in downtown Jasper, AL.

September 7 – Tinglewood Festival – Montevallo, AL

Tinglewood Festival is inspired by a special section of Orr Park, where local artist Tim Tingle has carved faces and creatures into the dead parts of living cedar trees since a fateful ice storm in 1993. Live chainsaw carvers from across the country will create unique pieces of art to be auctioned off throughout the event. Enjoy live music all day from 3+ bands. 40+ woodworking artists will demonstrate their craft and have unique pieces available for sale. In addition to the 18th annual Cars by the Creek Car Show, there will be a day full of children’s activities, Tim Tingle’s Whittling Contest, and more.

September 7 – Old Timer’s Festival – Pisgah, AL

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., Rosalie, AL, Highway 71. Take a few steps back into the past and experience quilting, corn grinding, blacksmithing, broom making, whittling, shingle making, Native American demonstrations, and period musical entertainment.

September 7 – Project Playground: A Family Festival – Huntsville, AL

This festival hopes to bring our community together and raise funds to construct a play space like no other in Huntsville, AL that can be both accessible to the city and serve as a unique destination for visitors young and old who wish to challenge both body and mind and above all PLAY like no one’s watching!
