Inspired by our childhoods spent in Amsterdam, we (Dashal, Chan and Ezda) opened BeFries in August 2016 to bring quality, Belgian double-cooked chips to the shores of Brighton & Hove, accompanied by a varied selection of exceptional house-made sauces.

It was really important to us when we launched that we got our sauces just right – of course, they’re half of our business! We spent months trying sauce brand after sauce brand, testing flavor combinations and creating recipes.

One thing we did discover along our journey, however, was that the options for vegan mayonnaise already on shelves was really underwhelming – we felt it really fell short in terms of flavor and consistency.

Seeing a gap in the vegan condiment market for fresh, exciting flavors, we decided to create an extensive menu of house-made sauces. With his cheffing background, Chan came up with the winning recipe for our vegan mayos using aquafaba and lots of fresh ingredients, which have become a firm favorite for both vegans and non-vegans across the city. As of today, we have 22 sauces in-house – 12 of them vegan, all of them tasty.

With your support we will be able to purchase three key pieces of equipment enabling us to upscale the production of our sauces and increase volume of sales.

  • A large emulsifier which will increase our production by ten fold.
  • A dispenser allowing jars to be filled at a much faster rate with more accuracy.
  • A labeling machine saving us a huge amount of time from manually labeling as we currently do.

Your support will also help us purchase packaging boxes, jars and labels.

As of July 30th, this project has raised $12,700 of their $36,477 goal. This project has 7 days left to raise the $36,477 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $10, you will get a tote bag.  For a pledge of $15, you will get three BeSaucy jars.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/befries/besaucy-award-winning-sauces-from-brightons-befries?
