Crowdsourcing Mornings: People Of Pride: 50 Stories of LGBTQ+ Americans

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines/

My name is Elijah Haswell and I’m a queer transgender artist dedicated to accessible non-fiction storytelling, andPeople of Pride is my passion project over 2 years in the making. This campaign is to fund the publication and distribution of a 8.5×11″ hardcover, 125-page, full-color illustrated book highlighting 50 LGBTQ Americans who changed the course of history including Hastiin Klah, Vito Russo, Dr. Pauli Murray, Brenda Howard, and many more.

I began Volume I of a free, virtually published series highlighting People of Pride during Pride month (June) 2018, and created Volume II in June 2019. During this time I created singular comics-style images every day to convey as much information about the individual as possible, and the response I received was far greater than I ever could’ve imagined. Parents, educators, and everyday Americans began regularly asking for the publication of a tangible People of Pride book for themselves and their children, and this Kickstarter campaign was born to facilitate its publication.

As of June 21st, this project has raised $3,800 of their $7,400 goal. This project has 23 days left to raise the $7,400 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $10, you will get a coloring book.  For a pledge of $30, you will get one hardcover book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elijahhaswell/people-of-pride-50-stories-of-lgbtq-americans?
