Armed Forces Day began on August 31, 1949. This single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under one agency – the Department of Defense. Active Duty, Reservists, Guardsmen, and Veterans are honored and celebrated every year on Armed Forces Day.  Fort McClellan Alabama National Guard Training Center invites you to join them on Saturday, May 18th, as they celebrate and honor America’s Heroes.

The event will be held on base, is FREE, and open to the entire community. Located just off Highway 21, everyone is asked to enter through Galloway Gate, where you will be directed to the designated parking areas.

Gates open at 8:30 am with opening ceremony beginning promptly at 9:00 am on the Marshall Parade Field. Plan to arrive early; the first 100 guests receive an Armed Forces Day t-shirt, sponsored by Morale, Welfare, and Recreation.

During this event you can expect: static displays hosted by local law enforcement and first responders, simulation firing, museum artifacts sponsored by Anniston Army Depot, large kids zone, local vendors, food vendors, performances by some of our local high school bands, and fun activities for the entire family.

Admission is free and the only cost associated with the event is what you choose to purchase from our local craft and food vendors.  Armed Forces Day Celebration is family and pet friendly; bring them all and join in as we honor our nation’s great Heroes.
