Crowdsourcing Mornings: CodeScty – Like Schoolhouse Rock for Computer Science

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines/

CodeScty (pronounced Code Society) uses original Hip Hop music and videos to teach computer science concepts – Like Schoolhouse Rock for computer science.  Our suite of content provides a foundational understanding of how technology works in preparation for more advanced computer science education. We transform youth from passive users of tech to empowered problem solvers & developers.  The music and videos create a 1-to-1 relationship between the lyrics and computer science learning standards and serve as the vehicle to translate complex ideas. This includes “Concept” songs that teach actual computer science foundations, as well as “Perspective” songs that stimulate the imagination and inspire what’s possible in tech.

CodeScty uses music, video and lessons to engage students’ interests and experiences to help them better comprehend computer science concepts. Culturally relevant connections boost confidence and awaken a sense of ownership over their learning experience.  Our method is based in culturally responsive education. CodeScty lessons relate CS concepts to popular culture and engage multiple learning styles to create a fun and inclusive learning environment. We assumed the full risk of founding CodeScty with no investment or capital. We have bootstrapped entirely up to this point by leveraging our consulting services to generate revenue to make small iterations and progress. This Kickstarter is helping us achieve a major milestone in creating a deployable product. More importantly, your contribution is positioning us for global scale where we can make a real impact.

As of March 25th, this project has raised $6,000 of their $40,000 goal. This project has 26 days left to raise the $40,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get a social media shoutout.  For a pledge of $75, you will get one CodeScty album.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/armandosomoza/codescty-like-schoolhouse-rock-for-computer-scienc?
