Crowdsourcing Mornings: The Porch Pod: The World’s First Intelligent Package Locker

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Are you one of over 23 Million Americans who have had a package stolen off their doorstep?  If so, you’re not alone. If not, it may just be a matter of time before you join the statistic. Research has shown that package theft exceeds home break-ins nearly 6 to 1.  Say hello to Porch Pod: The world’s only intelligent package safe. The Porch Pod keeps your valuable purchases safe from theft using innovative technology. We came up with the Porch Pod after a rash of package thefts in our own community in 2017 and have designed the world’s most technologically advanced, all-in-one package safe solution.

The Porch Pod package safe combines the strength of a structural steel container with the intelligence of a WiFi connected smart lock to keep your packages safe.  Secure The Porch Pod to your porch or patio using either the supplied concrete anchors or cable lock and connect the power cord. From there, connect your Porch Pod to your home’s WiFi using your smartphone or tablet.  Once your Porch Pod is secured and configured, there’s nothing left for you to do. You can leave your Porch Pod package safe open or closed. When a package arrives the driver just needs to scan the package’s tracking code to unlock.  You don’t even need to tell The Porch Pod you’re expecting a package.

As of February 18th, this project has raised $1,500 of their $10,000 goal. This project has 26 days left to raise the $10,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $179, you will get one Porch Pod.  For a pledge of $199, you will get one extra large Porch Pod.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1512647230/the-porch-podtm-the-worlds-first-intelligent-packa
