Crowdsourcing Mornings: The Chameleon Stone Chronicles

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

The Chameleon Stone Chronicles is a Fantasy Television Series based in modern day Jacksonville, Alabama. This campaign is to raise the funds that are needed to be able to film a 10 – 15 minute trailer for the series pilot. The trailer would be used as a marketing tool to build exposure for the series and to attempt to gain the attention of a major production company or television network.

This campaign is to raise the funds needed to film the trailer for a television series that would be known as The Chameleon Stone Chronicles. It’s important to me for multiple reasons. First, and foremost is the fact that Joseph Donahue wrote the script and want to see something done with it. Secondly, he thinks the series would have the ability to help bolster the economy of an area that was recently hurt pretty badly by a tornado.

Plus, it’s just something he thinks would be fun to watch!

What Is The Plot?

Yeah, you mentioned that it’s a modern day fantasy take on Mega Man, but what does that really mean?

That’s a very good question. It’s one I’ve had to find myself answering more and more since Mega Man isn’t quite as popular of a reference as it was at one point. Mega Man is a robot that can absorb the power of other robots with his robotic arm. The premise of The Chameleon Stone Chronicles is that various magical families have specialized in various schools of magic (fire, ice, life, death, speed, etc…) throughout history, using enchanted stones that are passed down throughout the generations. One family possesses the most powerful stone of all, The Chameleon Stone, and it has the ability to absorb the power of all the other family stones.

The Impact

It’s no secret that a successful television series can have a monumental impact on the area that it’s filmed in. You don’t have to look any further than how greatly the success of The Walking Dead has bolstered the economy of Senoia, Georgia. This series will take place in Jacksonville, Alabama. Jacksonville is a small college town, that even months afterwards, is still largely suffering from the effects of a tornado that came through the city. It’s nearly impossible to drive through the city without seeing signs of the damage that the tornado caused.

My greatest hope from this campaign is that the series will be picked up, it will be filmed in Jacksonville, and that new business and a tourist environment will spring up around the series much like what has happened in Senoia.

As of February 1st, this project has raised $50 of their $50,000 goal. This project has 18 days left to raise the $50,000 or it might not be funded. For a pledge of $15, you will get a social media shoutout.  For a pledge of $100, you will get to be a extra in the film.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
