Crowdsourcing Mornings: Let Love Reign, A Photography Project On Marriage Equality

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

It’s taken me NINE years to get to this point.  Out of sheer frustration about the lack of marriage equality laws in North Carolina (where I lived with my husband back in 2009), Let Love Reign was born. I wanted and want to show the world that love is love – that two people, regardless of gender – deserve the same rights in marriage that my husband and I have.  And so, I took my frustration and turned it into art.  I knew from the start that this project needed to become a book – a tangible testament to my strong belief that love is love. A legacy for future generations.

The couple who inspired me to create Let Love Reign – Tim & Ron – are the epitome of a committed, loving relationship of more than 30 years. I made their portrait and since then, I have photographed 49 other same-sex couples. I also interviewed each of these couples who shared inspiring, heartbreaking and hopeful stories of how they met their partner, their experiences coming out, and their take on marriage equality.  I spent 2016, 2017 and part of this year sending my book proposal to a large number of publishers. After careful consideration, I decided to take matters into my own hands and crowdfund this book.  Let Love Reign will be a 208-page, 9″x12″ hardcover book, coming in at 3 pounds, 50 black and white portraits, 50 stories and a whole lot of love.  The exciting news is that this book is *SO CLOSE* to being completed!

As of October 21st this project has raised $10,000 of their $50,000 goal. This project has 7 days left to raise the $50,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get a tote bag.  For a pledge of $105, you will get one hardcover book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
