Crowdsourcing Mornings: Monsters After Hours: A Sorta Scary Book for Kids

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

When I was a kid, I loved being scared. By books, by movies and TV, by ghost stories at camp. I wanted to carry on that tradition with a scary book that also serves to de-fang the creatures that go bump in the night. Because monsters aren’t eating kids 24 hours a day, right? They probably have a lot going on.  Monsters After Hours is about the chores, errands, and other responsibilities that monsters have to deal with in their lives / unlives / afterlives. You’ll see a vampire practicing good oral hygiene, goblins chopping firewood and choosing a recipe (they think you’d go great with fennel and fried capers), and a mummy washing his stinky wraps. There are over a dozen monsters included. Oh, and the dang thing rhymes.

There are also some interactive elements. You’ll find a spread where you can fill in your own monsters and after-hours moments, as well as some figures you can cut out to use for game pieces or rubber band target practice.  I’m timing this campaign during the MONTH of Halloween (yes, we should celebrate all month long), and I fully, fully intend to get the books to your doors in time for Christmas. I’m working with my printer to ensure this.

As of October 15th, this project has raised $4,000 of their $10,000 goal. This project has 16 days left to raise the $10,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $20, you will get one hardcover book.  For a pledge of $35, you will get one hardcover book and t-shirt.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
