Weekend Roundup: Atlanta Metro 2018 Labor Day Events

Labor Day Weekend 2018 is upon us!  And if you are looking for something to do, just head on over to the Atlanta metro!  Labor Day Weekend is by far the busiest weekend of the entire year for Atlanta.  And there are a ton of major events happening in Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend.  Let’s run down some of the top events happening!

Dragon Con – August 30 – September 3

Dragon Con brings you the latest in science-fiction and fantasy this Labor Day. Visitors can join in the sci-fi fun with workshops, autograph sessions and events such as the annual parade.

Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game: Washington Huskies vs. Auburn Tigers – September 1

The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games, held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, are recognized as the official beginning of the college football season. This is the college football excitement fans have come to expect from the city of Atlanta.

Decatur Book Festival – September 1-2

The AJC Decatur Book Festival is the largest independent book festival in the country and one of the five largest in the world. Head down to Decatur square to enjoy book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children’s area, live music, parades, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and more.

Taste of Soul Atlanta – August 30 – September 2

Taste of Soul Atlanta (TOSA) is the country’s premier Soul Food and Music festival; this weekend is jam-packed with fantastic food, spectacular sounds, sensational smells and fun. TOSA presents national and indie acclaimed Soul & R&B artist that are sure to awake your inner groove. Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival – August 31 – September 2

The magic begins with the extraordinary Friday Night Balloon Glow, where dozens of balloons illuminate the night, and continue all weekend long. Spend your holiday engaging in a variety of family-friendly events, including live music, beach activities, and a Kids Zone, or escape for a quiet hike or bike along miles of winding trails. 2018 National Puppet Slam – August 31 – September 1

For one weekend only, experience the beauty, ingenuity, and hilarity of original short-form puppetry by talented artists from across the United States. These contemporary pieces for adult audiences have been nominated by their respective slams and curated for an evening of short works that aspire to be as varied as the vast national network of independently produced puppetry slams it celebrates.
