August 25 – Hangar Fest III – Bessemer Airport – Bessemer, AL
All day music festival featuring performances by Drivin n Cryin, Nappy Roots, Hot Action Cop, Suburban Love Junkies, Jessica Meuse, Trey Lewis, Megan Kane, Ryan Flynt, Chris Ewing and AJ Beavers. Hangar Fest will also include Huey helicopter rides, food and vendors. Kids ages 10 and under get in free.

The Okra Festival started as a small community event celebrating the only crop that survived an unusually hot summer in 2000. More than a decade later, it is one of the highlights of the summer season, featuring local food, music and cultural arts.

August 24-26 – Shindig No. 10 – Florence, AL
The shindig celebrates fashion, music, food and art. Grammy-winning singer Kacey Musgraves will headline the weekend festival, which includes performances by Joshua Hedley, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Dee White, Robert Finley, The Texas Gentleman, Mattiel and The War and Treaty. There will be dozens of award-winning chefs from around the country preparing inventive new takes on Southern cuisine at venues throughout the region.
