Crowdsourcing Mornings: Beagles And Lox — Meals To Share With Your Dog

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Beagles and Lox was inspired by an icy Cleveland winter. Creative director and dog father, Nolan Beck, had run out of food for his cane corso, Penelope. He had planned on making Nigella Lawson’s spaghetti and meatballs recipe for himself, and realized that by making a few modifications to the recipe he could make a meal for Penelope that she’d enjoy, that they could eat together, and that would prevent him from having to de-ice his car and drive through a snowstorm. Thus, he began cooking (very occasionally) for Penelope.
After Nolan posted these meals on social media, some people asked for dog-safe, human-friendly recipes, and Beagles and Lox was born. The book will feature (at least) 75 recipes inspired by (at least) 25 real-life dogs and their humans. The recipes are for food that you’ll enjoy eating and can safely share with your pup. The nature of what a dog can safely eat means that most of these recipes will be classic and simple, meaning you can whip up a meal for your pup if you run out of food like Nolan did or if it’s your adoption anniversary and you feel like celebrating, make it a night to remember.
The more we raise, the more puppies we can include. Each dog will have a bio so you can get to know their character a little bit, and recipes for a starter, main, and dessert based on each of their personalities and breeds. Each puppy’s section will also include photos of them devouring their carefully prepared and plated meal, and I that’s why we’re all really here, right?  The majority of our funding will go towards funding the photography and styling behind the incredible images you see here, as well as developing a pretty substantial number of vet-approved recipes that are safe for our friends to eat. The team we’ve assembled for the project is really incredible, and we’re so excited to get moving with them.

As of August 23rd, this project has raised $7,000 of their $26,000 goal. This project has 19 days left to raise the $26,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $10, you will get a thank you card.  For a pledge of $25, you will get a digital cookbook.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
