Time for the Alabama Weekend Roundup. This weekly post highlights different and unique events across Alabama or near Alabama that you should consider attending. So for this weekend, here are seven events you should consider going too!

July 20-29 – W.C. Handy Music Festival – Florence, AL

The W.C. Handy Music Festival is a weeklong celebration of the musical heritage of northwest Alabama, honoring Florence native, W. C. Handy, “Father of the Blues.” Over 200 events take place during the week, ranging from mini-concerts to headliner concerts, plays to art exhibits, picnics to restaurants and clubs. We are located almost equidistant from Nashville, Memphis and Birmingham. The area known as “The Shoals,” where the majority of the events take place, includes the cities of Florence, Sheffield, Tuscumbia and Muscle Shoals.

July 21 – Float Your Boat Summer Festival – Turkey Creek Nature Preserve – Pinson, AL

Float Your Boat offers a fun-filled day at the Preserve that features balsa wood boat races with prizes, the City of Pinson’s “Beat the Heat” ice cream give-away, food, swimming and a fun zone for kids. Last year more than 2,000 people attended the event, and this year promises to be even more successful and fun for the entire family. The festivities will kick off with the family fun zone opening at 10:00 am and boat races starting at noon.

July 20-21 – Saddle Up for St. Jude – Tuscumbia , AL

Largest horse-related event that benefits St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, in the Southeast. Featuring major Country Music Artist, auction, trail rides, wagon rides, horse show, roping, seminars and demonstrations.

July 20-22 – Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo – Dauphin Island, AL

More than 3,000 anglers from at least 24 states will fish in the Gulf of Mexico for three days for more than $400,000 in cash and prizes across 30 categories. Sponsored by the Mobile Jaycees, the 2011 event was listed in Guinness World Records as the largest fishing tournament. The Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is held the third full weekend of July each year.

July 21 – Lake Martin Championship Cornhole Tournament – The Rodeo Club – Dadeville, AL

July 20-21 – Pell City Bulls On The Lake Rodeo – Pell City Civic Center, Pell City, AL

2 Day Event! Premier Bulls Tour! July 20 & 21, 2018, start time 7:00p.m. each night. Gates open at 5:00.   Gate admission $15/adults, $10/kids ages 6-12yrs, ages 5 & under free.  Advanced tickets will be sold at Pell City Municipal Complex. $12/adults, $8/kids.  Clown Act, Mechanical Bull, petting zoo, pony rides, bounce tent, clown act, food vendors, & much more!  Concert featuring Johnathan East will begin at 6:00, and he will play during intermission.
