Crowdsourcing Mornings: Help Build The Statue Of Liberty Museum

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Campaign Chairperson Diane von Furstenberg, and the National Park Service are in the process of creating a new museum on Liberty Island, but we need your help to add the finishing touches.  With your support, future visitors to Liberty Island will be able to explore the Statue’s inspiring story through the Museum’s interactive galleries and special exhibits.  The Museum will also be the new home for her original torch and the Liberty Star Mural, a panoramic display containing the names of many of the Museum’s generous donors along with the Founders Star, a digital donor registry of people like you who have supported the Museum.

The existing exhibit inside the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty can only accommodate a fraction of the island’s over four million annual visitors.  The new 26,000-square-foot museum will create a beautiful, sustainable, new destination on Liberty Island, giving all visitors the ability to explore the Statue’s inspiring story without the need for additional advanced reservations or tickets.  The Museum features a green roofscape with native island vegetation and bird-safe glass exteriors. It is set above 500-year flood levels and built to withstand hurricane-force winds.  The Museum will also be the new home for her original torch and the Liberty Star Mural. Inspired by the American flag, the Liberty Star Mural features 50 sculpted stars designed by French-American artist Anh Duong and includes the Founders Star.

As of July 6th, this project has raised $35,000 of their $50,000 goal.  This project has 30 days left to raise the $50,000 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $5, you will get a social media shoutout.  For a pledge of $40, you will get a t-shirt.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
