Roadscapes Wednesday: The Best Map Of A City / The Nolli Map Of Rome

On this Roadscapes post, let’s talk about a map.  Before GPS systems and the internet, you had to rely on a paper map to know where to go.  Technology today has made finding places easier.  But, way back in the 1700’s, Giambattista Nolli worked and made a map of Rome, Italy.  The 1748 Nolli Map of Rome is one of the best maps of any city ever for three reasons: accuracy, detail, and influence.  In fact, Rome relied on this map made by Nolli until the 1970’s, that’s over 200 years!  Now, the YouTube channel City Beautiful talks about this map and the influence it had on the people living in Rome.  Enjoy below!
