UPDATE: I can announce that this trip was for a new A&E show called “The Employables.”
Before this post begins, these two trips are all part of a very “special project” that I am a part of. I cannot talk about what this “special project” is about, for now. But trust me, when I am allowed to reveal what this “special project” is all about, many people are going to be happy! So, I got to take two trips this Summer. This was the first time I took a trip in an airplane in over 20 years, so a lot has changed. The first trip was to Boston, MA. I flew from Birmingham, Atlanta, and then onto Boston. The first thing I noticed was every airport had TV’s on. Mostly all the airports had CNN programming on them. But, the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport had something else on. The TV’s either had HGTV or Food Network on them! And I love this as current cable TV news has divided us too much already.
And the food you get at the Birmingham Airport, overpriced and just okay.
Anyways, when I got to Boston the meeting the “special project” crew set up was cancelled, all because of attorneys. So, I still had a night in Boston to enjoy. We first went to a local restaurant called The Barking Crab. I got the lobster mac and cheese and some Boston creme pie for dessert, yummy!
I got to record the I-90 / I-93 Big Dig tunnels!
And I stayed at the Hyatt Regency. I was on the 12th floor and got to overlook the Boston Harbor. Also, the prices at the hotel are through the roof!
So, the next day I flew back to Alabama. Then about a month later, the crew on the “special project” contacted me saying I was going to New York City! So here I go flying off once again!
When I landed at JFK Airport, the crew got me into a taxi. I was glad I did not have to pay, because the cab ride to Manhattan was at minimum $52. We then got to ride across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Then I got to try some New York thin crust pizza at Stromboli Pizza in the East Village area.
We then got to visit the popular tourist spot Times Square. Yes it was amazing and great!
Then we visited Columbus Circle and got to walk inside Central Park.
We then got to drive through Times Square!
My hotel was at Hotel 32/32. The crazy thing is this hotel has two buildings, across the street from each other! My stay at this hotel was good.

The next morning, I was driven to a building for the next “special project” segment. I got to see the George Washington Bridge but never crossed it.
Do I look good in the suit and tie the “special project” folks bought me?

That evening, we went to a restaurant called Cask Bar & Kitchen. We got the cheese steak spring rolls, fried pickles, and ribs for appetizers. And I got the fish and chips for the main entree. I also got a few bites of the steak. Everything was really good!
And we got a couple of evening pics on the walk back including the Empire State Building.
The next morning before returning back home, I got to ride the NYC subway!
And I also walked by the last restaurant Anthony Bourdain worked as a chef. The place was called Les Halles on Park Avenue.
Of course one does not go to anyplace where a 7-Eleven is present and not get a Slurpee.
And on the way back to the JFK Airport, I was driven through the Queens Midtown Tunnel.
Overall, I enjoyed both trips, and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Here are some pictures I took while in the air or at the airport.
