After dying momentarily during childbirth, Melisse Tokic made the drastic life change of pursuing a career in filmmaking. This short film, Queer and Southern God is a Southern Gothic, biblical tale, set in rural Tennessee and full of the quirky characters that can only be found in the South. The film is a fun ride that hopes to increase awareness between cultures, get a wider audience to start talking and addressing their own prejudices. Their intention is to promote this short at film festivals in 2018 and obtain funding to adapt it into 13 episodes. The script, twists and turns, and cliffhangers are all there.
They just need some money to finish what we started. They were recently accepted into the Nashville Film Festival, Los Angeles lndependent Filmmakers Showcase and The Miami Independent Film Festival, Monthly Edition! To make this series a success we need more than 4 actors and a few locations. It takes money to hire professionals and get access to more diverse locations. They also need to compensate the crew so that everyone can pay their bills! They are also hoping to license the right music needed to make this series fun to watch and a success. The music is essentially having an extra character. One of the most important characters since it is set in Tennessee. This short film and upcoming series is important because it will bring ALL types of diversity to the media and increase a females point of view on issues.
