Crowdsourcing Mornings: All4Cure

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Imagine if we could empower cancer patients by providing them with instant access to a network of hundreds of cancer experts?  Currently, in order to make treatment decisions, all patients can do is turn to a handful of experts in their network or try to find and understand complex medical information online.  Science moves too fast for anyone, even the best doctors, to keep up with everything that may be important for a specific patient’s situation. That means patients are making life and death decisions without all of the available information.  Cancer patients will do better if they take control over their disease.  That’s what All4Cure is all about.

Patients, clinicians and researchers register (for free). Patients are assigned unique codes, researchers and clinicians are identified by name.  Patients then download a HIPAA release form that they print, sign, date and provide to their doctor’s office, requesting that their records to be sent to All4Cure.  All4Cure extracts information from the medical record to create each patient’s Personalized Dashboard.  Patient dashboards feature a Graph that captures the patient’s cancer history, from the time of diagnosis to the present. This information is updated on an ongoing basis.  A Documents Panel allows for the presentation of much more detailed information, including physician progress notes (from which patient names are redacted), pathology or radiology reports, and molecular test results.  A Discussion Panel creates a forum for focused discussions by participating clinicians, researchers, other patients and their families.

Their model for solving cancer requires the help of people from many different backgrounds – cancer patients, their friends and family members, scientists, health care professionals, and people who are just excited about their mission and want to help.  While the All4Cure platform is up and running with 250+ members, we’re only at the beginning of their journey.  They have patients on waiting lists, ready to take part. But, without more resources, their team cannot meet this demand.  To grow the community, they’ll need to hire IT folks, expand their support team, bring clinical scientists on board, and invest in better technology.  This is why they need your help.

As of February 1st, this project has raised $60,000 of their $25,000 goal. This project has 30 days left to raise as much as it can! For a pledge of $10, you will get a sticker.  For a pledge of $35, you will get a coffee mug.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
