Since their first Kickstarter ended back in June 2015 they have been working on a new addition to their tool lineup. Many of you asked for a larger version of the original Griffin Pocket Tool with even more options. After several prototypes and redesigns they have created the Griffin Pocket Tool™ XL.

The Griffin Pocket Tool™ XL is 50% larger than the original design with a minimum of 15 available features. Some of the new features include the Nail Prying tool, Rulers on each side of the tool in Inch and Millimeter increments, Bit Retainer, and the choice between Standard and Metric size Hex Wrenches.  Each and every tool is Wire EDM cut then sent over to the CNC mill where each edge is chamfered and all of the grinds are ground to perfection.

As of November 17th, this Kickstarter project has raised around $5,500 of the $4,000 goal they need to be funded. And as you know in Kickstarter, a project is not funded until the fundraising goal is reached! This project only has 28 days left to raise as much as it can! For a pledge of $20, you will get one Griffin Pocket Tool XL.  For a pledge of $45, you will get two Griffin Pocket Tool XL’s.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1197457435/griffin-pocket-tool-xl

MathKit

Leslie is the college math teacher mom who invented MathKit.  Learning math opens doors to being a vet, an architect, an animator – many of the careers her seven-year-old daughter dreams of.  But, research shows that many girls start to shy away from hard problems and lose math confidence as early as third grade. MathKit applies research on math and mindset to help kids, especially girls, persist through mistakes and struggle.

MathKit isn’t just for families that love math. MathKit helps all families teach kids how to be successful at math. Even a little math playtime has a real impact. Their kids dream big – let’s give them big math confidence to keep the future open!  MathKit is a set of 10 hands-on games and math learning tools, designed to boost confidence and help your K-3 child master addition and subtraction facts from 0-20.

MathKit inspires confidence by helping parents create a safe space for their children to learn. MathKit games are designed to be playful and relaxing, and don’t race on mathematical thinking. MathKit reduces anxiety by teaching that mistakes are a natural part of learning. Games don’t punish mistakes. MathKit’s learning tools help children work through mistakes with understanding. The games easily adjust to your child’s level, to keep her learning in her own “sweet spot” where the math is not too easy, but not too hard.

MathKit is for all children K-3. But girls are disproportionately losing math confidence.  She carefully crafted games and tips based on research on girls and math, while keeping the kit welcoming and inclusive for boys.  MathKit includes ten games to choose from: indoor and outdoor, active and quiet. Watch your child discover her favorites!  They are ready to bring MathKit to the next level. MathKit is made with high quality materials, and they currently handmake every kit. In order to scale up, they need funds to purchase larger sets of supplies at lower cost, and the numbers to move assembly and shipping to a fulfillment center. Please help them reach their funding goal by donating (and getting one of their awesome rewards) and by helping to spread the word!
