When you go trick-or-treating this weekend, you can also help raise funds for a great organization!  The Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign is celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2015.  And they are joining forces with Blue Sky Studios and The Peanuts Movie, and Peanuts is also turning 65 this year too!  The Peanuts Movie and UNICEF will team up with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF to encourage children to raise funds for UNICEF’s lifesaving programs.

The original Kids Helping Kids campaign, is one of the longest-running youth volunteer initiatives in America that encourages children to go door-to-door on Halloween and collect coins in support of UNICEF’s work.  Since 1950, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has raised more than $175 million for UNICEF to provide children around the world with medicine, nutrition, clean water, emergency relief, and education.

In addition to children traditionally going door-to-door on Halloween to raise funds for UNICEF or fundraising online at www.trickortreatforunicef.org, teachers of grade K-12 students can participate in the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF School Challenge throughout the fall.  The School Challenge will engage educators and schools through an essay contest focused on encouraging global citizenship in the classroom and community. The top 15 essay competition entrants will receive $500 of Scholastic books. Entries must be submitted online by Dec. 1, 2015 to be considered.
