Animation Monday: Is The Lion Guard Trying To Copy My Little Pony

Geek Alabama Animation

On this Animation Monday on a Tuesday, let’s talk about a new Disney movie and cartoon series The Lion Guard.  The special cartoon movie will premiere in November, and the cartoon series will premiere in 2016.  But, many are already comparing this new cartoon series to a current one, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.  In the preview video posted on YouTube by Disney Channel, you see what you can call a cutie mark on Kion the Lion.  Hmm…

Disney has even gotten a writer from the My Little Pony series, and one has to wonder if Disney is doing The Lion Guard to attract the fame and viewers from My Little Pony?  The series will feature Kion (lion), along with Fuli (cheetah), Beshte (hippopotamus), Ono (cattle egret), and Bunga (honey badger) who are a part of The Lion Guard.  Judging by the picture below, this really does look like something like from My Little Pony, but instead of Equestria, it’s Africa.

Well, no matter what happens here, I will give The Lion Guard a watch.  Heck, if this new cartoon carries the same morals and lessons you see on My Little Pony, than it’s a good thing I say!  See the full trailer below!
