This week on Animation Monday, on a Tuesday, let’s talk about a couple of animated short films that you need to see!

Vagabond

The Vimeo channel   put out this great animated film called Vagabond.  Society has moved into this dirty and overworked paradise.  Find out what happens when a dog is trapped in a moving cart, and moving towards its doom in a fire pit.  Will the person save the dog before doom strikes.  And watch the end for something special!

Tonk’s Island

Yes, Nickelodeon is helping to create new cartoons through its Nickelodeon International Animated Shorts Program.  In this video called Tonk’s Island, find out how Tonk spends his day on an isolated island.  The cartoon is created by Mel Roach and produced at Rubber House.

¡MONSTRO!

From the Vimeo channel , comes ¡MONSTRO!.  A rickety scientific expedition ventures down the Amazon River to a dark lagoon, in search of a mythic Creature!  But the Creature, it seems, has a less than mythic agenda!  This was like watching a cartoon on TV, great storytelling and animation!  Watch out for the Monstro!

Baxter

This video from the Vimeo channel  is about a raccoon named Baxter who  makes his way into Granny’s Sweet Shop, but upon entering he gets so obsessed with the candy that he creates his own downfall.  Great animation for a senior thesis film!

Danny and the Wild Bunch

This video from the Vimeo channel  is about a children’s book author who is told that her new manuscript needs to be “darker”, but when her revisions piss off the characters in the book, they come back to make some changes of their own.  Yes, this video features a real person with animated characters!

Pandemonio

This last video from the Vimeo channel  features a kaleidoscope of monsters, animals and other strange creatures brought to life by the primitive and franzied pace of Zu’s music. Each figure is made by overlapping felt circles. The animation is obtained by moving, resizing and painting every circle without deforming its perfect shape.  Wow!
