Crowdsourcing Mornings: The Execution of Dr. Martin Luther King Movie

Geek Alabama Crowdsourcing Mornings

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

On November 16th 1999, Dr. Martin Luther King’s family brought a wrongful death lawsuit to trial alleging that a conspiracy involving the US government was responsible for his death.  This is the true story of the only trial of the facts in the death of Martin Luther King ever held in a court of law.  One of Dr. King’s favorite quotes was “Truth crushed to earth will rise again!”  The real story of his death has been crushed to earth for far too long, please help to raise it up on the screen for all to see, so that the truth will rise again!

T. J. McCarthy IV is a filmmaker in Orlando FL. He has worked on commercial projects for clients, a reality television series, music videos, and produced and directed a feature length documentary that appeared as an invited film in the “Humanity Explored” film festival.  He believes everyone should hear the story that the jury in this trial heard so he has written a screenplay to make it accessible for all those who don’t have time to read the 2700 trial transcript.  He needs your help to make it into a film.  In this phase they’re working to raise $2500 for preproduction in order to hire a line producer to prepare a budget so they’ll know how much they need to raise for production.

Everyone who contributes any amount at all will get a digital download of the completed film and also will be eligible for the opportunity to appear as an extra in a crowd scene, if they can pay their own travel and lodging. The other perks for those who donate larger amounts are described over to the right of this page.  Even if you can’t make a financial contribution, you can help the truth to rise again by just getting the word out.

As of January 26th, this project has raised around $100 of their $2,500 goal. This project only has 24 days left to raise the $2,500 or it might not be funded!  For a pledge of $1, you will get a digital download of the completed film.  For a pledge of $25, you will get a DVD copy of the completed film.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
