Who loves those polar bear swims?  You know what I am talking about!  When brave people go into the icy cold water in Winter to raise money or awareness for a favorite charity?  Or people do it just for fun!  There are already a couple of good polar bear swim videos up on YouTube from this Winter!

On Saturday January 31st, the 2015 Polar Plunge will take place at Oak Mountain State Park in Shelby County.  Along with seeing brave people plunging into the cold water, you will also have a live DJ, costume contest, and a bonfire to keep people warm, or to warm people up after going into the cold water.  The event starts at 8 am at the Oak Mountain State Park Beach. All plungers will receive a T-Shirt and a minimum of $50.00 online registration fee is required.

The more money you raise, the cooler the swag you receive!  All the money raised is supporting Special Olympics Alabama, devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  If you want to register online, which is what you have to do to take the plunge, go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/oak-mountain-state-park-polar-plunge-for-special-olympics-alabama-registration-13263733183
