Before I get started, I need all of you to do a big favor for me! AL.com put out a story highlighting people they think will change Alabama in 2015. And they also asked readers to nominate people as well. So, what do you think of having me being a person who could help change Alabama in 2015? I think I can, and I will explain why below! If this leads me to being profiled, and finally getting hired somewhere, this will all be worth it! Now, onto the story!
Why do I think I should be selected as a person that could help change Alabama in 2015? I mean, I have already done a lot of amazing things since I started this site in 2012. I have gotten to profile amazing people like Aimee Copeland, Gary Sinise, and even got to cover a wedding!
I have gotten to interview big names like Kid President (Robby Novak), Meghan McCarthy, Tara Strong, and Savana Wehunt.
I have gotten to cover very big political and sports leaders like Newt Gingrich, Les Miles, and Herman Cain.
And yes, I have also covered plenty of other things in Alabama! From good people, sports, small businesses, weather, roads, crowdsourcing projects, and much more! I stay very busy writing, taking videos, and taking photos of a lot of things! It does not matter if it’s a great Salvation Army bell ringer, a thrilling high school football game, or a major flood. I usually want to cover it!
Now, some of you might know some of my traits. But for the others, I am going to reveal something you need to know. I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. And some of you will ask, if I was disabled, I should not be out doing all of these things. Well I tell people this, even people with disabilities can do great and amazing things, they need to be given a chance to do things! As what this sign says below, I am not afraid of this world. I just want to make a difference. I am Autistic.
And yes, many and many people across Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, the southeast, and the country knows what I already do. I have a massive social media following with plenty of big name people including musicians and TV people following me. I have political figures that knows me. Here is a video I did of the final Clay Bowl with Bob Riley.

As you can clearly see, there are plenty of people who knows what I do. From profiling local musicians and featuring them here, to featuring local people on YouTube, to featuring local events and charities, to featuring local small businesses and featuring them, to featuring people running crowdsourcing projects. The list goes on and on! As you can see, I am great at writing, photography, videography, and more! And now I am also great at making presentations. This one featuring life lessons from Saturday morning cartoons has over 7,000 views!
But, while I do all of the amazing coverage, I am dealing with one big and humongous problem. I do all of this coverage for free, and I am still currently unemployed. I am living on food stamps, and I am afraid that could be taken away soon. And I live without a car, and walk everywhere. I will walk for miles and miles just to cover that event. In fact, here is a picture of me walking today.
I feel like I am already a top person in Alabama. But many people don’t know that just yet. I hope I can be profiled on a bigger site like AL.com, and be featured. Not only it would get myself out there to even more people who don’t know me, it might land me a job finally. As you can see, even having a disability does not stop me. I am a great photographer, videographer, writer, tech reporter, geek/nerd reporter, and more! I just need someone to give me a chance to succeed!
