Crowdsourcing Mornings: Rising Appalachia’s New Album Wider Circles

Geek Alabama Crowdsourcing Mornings

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Hello fam!  Happy solstice and holiday season, and welcome to their new Kickstarter project!  To those who have been with them from the jump, and to those who may have just been turned on to this hand-stitched project they call RISING APPALACHIA, they say “thank you” immensely for taking the time to ready this now, for coming out to their shows, for sharing with them in so many forms, and for everything you each are doing in your OWN lives to keep them and this fast spinning world afloat.  As they approach the turning of the pages towards a new year, they also approach completion (they hope!!) of their 6th full length album!  They are mighty proud of the songs coming together and are eager to get the album out into the world and into your hands.

Our band, Leah, Chloe, Biko and David, plus some dear collaborators, have been working away at it this past year and its so close to completion!  They are summoning your help at this time to get this album in the oven, and to make their upcoming touring year as meaningful, sustainable, and impactful as we can conjure.  This will be their 6th full-length, self-produced work… and its a long and wonderful journey that requires many hands on deck. Up to this point, they have been able to cover lots of ground and make all of their music while staying joyfully independent and driven solely by their own values and passions.

They are seeking to raise $30,000 dollars to cover the bare bones production of their album and 2015 tour. This amount is a rough estimate of how much it will cost them to cover their recording costs at the amazing Echo Mountain Studio, mastering, printing and packaging, promotion, and the release tour across the US in 2015. It’s the amount they need to keep them from signing ourselves into the red, which would be amazing!! Any love offering that goes above and beyond these costs will help fund creative, more sustainable travel to a train station or dock near you, and support them doing more of the kick-ass work that they want to say ‘yes’ to, including in schools, on the streets, indigenous land and language preservation, de-damming efforts, mountain top preservation, non-profit outreach in each town, etc.

As of December 30th, this project has raised around $9,000 of their $30,000 goal. This project only has 28 days left to raise the $30,000 or it will not be funded!  For a pledge of $15, you will get a digital download of their new album Wider Circles.  For a pledge of $100, you will get a signed physical copy of their new album Wider Circles.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
