Project for Awesome 2014: YouTube Comes Together For Charity

Picture1swvfwsed

The very first Project for Awesome was organized in 2007, and has been held annually on December 17-18 every year since.  But this year, there are new dates, December 12-13!  During Project for Awesome, thousands of people post videos about and advocating for charities that decrease the overall level of world suck.  As a community, the Vlog Brothers promote these videos and raise money for the charities.  In 2013, the community raised over $850,000 benefiting 12 charities.  Legally speaking, the Project for Awesome is a project of the Foundation to Decrease World Suck, Inc. a Montana based 501(c)3 charitable organization.

Starting in 2014, Project for Awesome will be held on the second Friday and Saturday in December, which is December 12-13 this year!  The 2014 edition of the Project for Awesome is now underway!  On December 12-13, YouTube channels will upload videos promoting their favorite charities.  Then people will get to vote on which videos they think are the best.  After the voting closes, the top charities promoted will split some of the money they raised over the year.  Other charities such as Save the Children and Partners in Health, will also get money raised from this event.

100% of funds raised, less the cost of perk manufacturing, shipping, Indiegogo‘s fees, and merchant (credit card) fees will go towards charity.  Everything will be packed and shipped by volunteers, and no one is paid even a single penny for any work related to the Project for Awesome or the Foundation to Decrease World Suck.  The VlogBrothers are running a live stream of the event.  Click on the link to view the live event!
