Friendship Santa Is Back For The 2014 Christmas Season

For the last two years, Geek Alabama has gone out to Friendship Santa along McIntosh Road in Oxford Alabama.  Avery Robertson dresses as Santa Claus and sits in a sleigh being pulled by huge wooden reindeer.  He goes out each night between Thanksgiving and Christmas and waves to the traffic passing by along McIntosh Road. Along with him waving to traffic, the entire yard is decked out with many Christmas decorations.

It takes many Christmas decorations and flood lights to make the entire yard look like a Christmas wonderland. Every night from around 5:30 – 8 pm until December 23rd, you will see Avery Robertson playing Santa Claus and sitting in his big red sleigh and he wants the drivers to honk their horns! On Friday and Saturday nights, people are invited to come out to enjoy some hot chocolate and Christmas cookies. You can sing along with some Christmas carols and the kids can sit in Santa’s lap. This is the fourth year of doing this, and so far the crowds have been good, but they could even be better!

Every night from about 5:30 pm to 8 pm, Santa Claus will be out to wave to traffic at The Robertson’s home along McIntosh Road. As long as the weather is not bad, you will see Santa Claus out each night. In addition to getting to honk your car horn and getting your kids to tell Santa what they want for Christmas, you can tour all of the great Christmas decorations as well!  The best part about this event is its free!

They will also have a donation box because you can imagine it costs a lot of money on the power bill to run all of those lights!  To find The Robertson’s home along McIntosh Road, go south from exit 188 at Interstate 20 along Leon Smith Parkway, about two miles down the road, past two traffic lights, the house will be on the right!  You can’t miss it!  To learn more about Friendship Santa, go to: https://www.facebook.com/Friendshipsanta
