Lots of geeks and nerds like to follow what happens in the US Supreme Court.  And on Wednesday, Alabama was featured inside the court again.  The case is about district redistricting in the state for state house and senate seats.  After the 2010 census, the Republican-led Alabama Legislature redrew state legislative districts. But their plan was challenged for being a racial gerrymander and violating the Voting Rights Act.

Is simple terms, the case was about packing minorities and Democrats into too few districts, and giving more districts to whites who are more likely to vote Republican.  Alabama has already a big track record when it comes to the Supreme Court.  Shelby County led the way to gut part of the Voting Rights Act.  And a person inside Alabama made sure we can contribute as much as we want to elections, meaning money in politics is out of control.  So, in this video below from the PBS NewsHour, Marcia Coyle of The National Law Journal joins Gwen Ifill to talk about this case.  Look for a ruling next June.
