Crowdsourcing Weekends: Patch N Ride, Tiny Tesla, House of Heroes

Geek Alabama Crowdsourcing

This is Crowdsourcing Weekends!  This post highlights three different crowdsourcing projects I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Patch N Ride

patchnride is a simple tool that permanently repairs bicycle flat tires. Easy. Convenient. Quick.  The patent-pending technology of patchnride is groundbreaking and game changing.  They provide a green alternative to fixing a flat on-the-go.  It can take anyone under one minute to permanently repair their bicycle flat with patchnride.  And here’s the best part: you never have to be in fear of a flat tire ever again.  Oh, and you also don’t have to remove the wheel when you use patchnride.  Their company is comprised of enthusiastic cyclists and entrepreneurs who wanted to solve an age-old problem with a simple solution.  Never be stranded again with a flat. You just patch and then ride away.

Patent-pending patchnride is the FIRST and ONLY real solution to easily and safely repair ALL bicycle tires that get a flat – Road, Mountain, Clincher, Tubular and Now Tubeless – on the road, in less than 60 seconds. No experience needed!  patchnride is much easier and faster than a regular flat repair. No more removing the wheel and tire, messing with your derailleur and getting all greasy. After you patch your tire, your bicycle is 100% ready for riding and racing for all conditions.

As of August 10th, this project has raised around $16,585 of their $5,000 goal. This project only has 57 days left to raise as much as it can!  For a pledge of $25, you will get one patchnride tool.  For a pledge of $50, you will get two patchnride kits!  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:

Tiny Tesla

tinyTesla is a little Tesla coil that shoots sparks, plays MIDI tracks, and exercises your soldering skills. This coil kit is designed to be easy to build and assemble for anyone with basic soldering skills. Shooting lightning and playing music using electricity itself is an exciting way to learn about physics and electronics!  Now introducing the pre-soldered tinyTesla kit! It still requires mechanical assembly, but will get you up and running with beautiful singing sparks faster.

For tinyTesla, the interrupter connects to your computer via USB and can be controlled using our own software or many other MIDI playback programs. tinyTesla can also be controlled through a MIDI instrument (such as a piano keyboard) using a USB to MIDI adapter and our software, which allows the input from the adapter to be passed through to the interrupter.  oneTeslaTS’s interrupter directly interfaces with MIDI devices through a MIDI-in port. It can be connected to your computer using the included USB adapter, or directly to an instrument with a MIDI cable. oneTeslaTS supports an additional set of MIDI features, such as note sustain and pitch bend, that make it ideal for real-time, interactive use.

As of August 10th, this project has raised around $283,000 of their $20,000 goal. This project only has 5 days left to raise as much as it can!  For a pledge of $5, you will get updates, name listed on their website, and vote on their packaging design.  For a pledge of $149, you will get one tinyTesla kit!  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:

House Of Heroes

A democratic vote took place in Columbus, OH in the summer of 2002.  “House of Heroes” won.  That was the name of their new band.  It has been a great pleasure to record their music and tour the world for the past 10+ years.  They’ve loved meeting so many interesting people and sharing this gift of music with you.  After recording 6 full lengths, 3 EPs, a few singles, and a couple of B-Sides albums with various record labels, it’s time for then to give it a go on their own.  One thing they consistently hear from fans is how much they enjoy their “concept” albums. In all honesty, they’ve never set out to make concept albums, they just sort of end up that way. They’d like to change that. They want to make a true concept album.  A story.

Recording and manufacturing music takes time and money. The budget they have outlined will allow them to record, mix, and master a record at the same quality that you’ve become accustomed to for the past several albums. In addition to that, they will also be able to take care of CD and Vinyl manufacturing costs, clothing printing costs, and shipping for all of the perks.  If they are lucky enough to surpass their goal, they are excited to explore more ideas including music videos, other vinyl projects (*cough* The End is Not the End *cough*), and options to record even more songs!

As of August 10th, this project has raised around $37,000 of their $35,000 goal. This project only has 22 days left to raise as much as it can!  For a pledge of $15, you will get a full digital download of their next album before release.  For a pledge of $25, you will get a physical CD and digital download of their next album!  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
