Crowdsourcing Mornings: 3Dsimo – The Next Generation of 3D Pens

Geek Alabama Crowdsourcing Mornings

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings!  This post will take place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from KickstarterIndiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

3Dsimo is the next generation of 3D pens.  3Dsimo is the first 3D pen in the world that offers you the option to choose the print settings on a digital display.  This enables you to adjust the temperature and speed of material flow allowing amazing opportunities for your creativity.  3Dsimo can handle various materials as ABS, PLA, HIPS, PET, PC, FLEXI, Thermochrome, LAYWOO-D3, BENDLAY, SANDSTONE, smartABS, PVA (water-soluble material) at different temperatures in order to achieve fast filling or even the ability to print in the air!

Other options include a backlit display, with the function to turn on preheating or set the memory for predefined settings.  You don’t need to remember the temperature or speed for each material as the 3Dsimo will predefine the settings for you.  Just select the material you want to use.  If a new material becomes available, you can modify the temperature, speed and preheating in the custom settings option in the main menu. Everything is neatly controlled and displayed on the LCD display for your convenience and ease of use.  These parameters are vital to determine the appropriate method of drawing so the 3Dsimo is the only 3D pen in the world offering such an easy and fast way to move between methods for drawing and material types.

As of February 24th, this project has raised around $8,031 of their $500 goal.   This project only has 6 days left to raise as much as it can!  For a pledge of $49, you will get very unusual materials with total length of 100m (Wood 20m, Thermochrome 20m, PET 20m, Sandstone LAYBRICK 20m, Bendlay 20m).  For a pledge of $99, you will get the 3Dsimo full commercial package.  You also get a starter package of materials for experimentation.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:–4
