The 2014-2016 AHSAA Football Classifications, Now With 7A

Advertisements

Today was a very big day for the AHSAA.  This is the first major change in over 25 years for the AHSAA.  Starting with the next football season, there will be a new 7A classification.  The 32 largest schools based on population will be in four different regions competing in 7A.  The remaining six classes were divided as equally as possible with 60 schools in 6A, 61 in 5A, 60 in 4A, 60 in 3A, 58 in 2A and 58 making up Class 1A.

The vote for 7A was unanimous and the change will be for all sports.  I have put together a SlideShare presentation of the pairing of all seven classes with maps from the AHSAA, view it below.  To learn more about this change, go to: http://www.ahsaa.com/
