Get Into The Christmas Spirit With Reading Rainbow

I just love this, everyone should remember Reading Rainbow on PBS.  Host LeVar Burton traveled the world and read great books for kids on the PBS show.  Even though Reading Rainbow does not live on TV anymore, it lives on the web!  LeVar and his business partner Mark Wolfe have reimagined Reading Rainbow as a mobile “Netflix like” reading service that has 75,000 books being read each week by a whole new generation of children.

Continuing a 30 year tradition of developing a passion for reading in our children, LeVar Burton’s all new presentation of ‘The Night Before Christmas’ on Reading Rainbow’s YouTube Channel encourages families to share stories together during this holiday season.  LeVar Burton is widely recognized for his lifelong advocacy of children’s literacy and known for his stewardship of the beloved Reading Rainbow children’s Television show that aired for 26 years on PBS.

‘The Night Before Christmas’ storybook reading featured on the video below is based on a book published by Holiday House and selected from one of the hundreds of stories featured in the Reading Rainbow app.  Burton says, “This time of year offers an exceptional opportunity to curl up in front of the fireplace or on the couch with your children and read stories together. The best way I know to encourage reading in young kids is by reading to them. I hope my video reading of ‘The Night Before Christmas’ brings joy to your children and perhaps some fond memories for you of the 30 years we spent together on PBS.”

Watch the Reading Rainbow Storybook Reading below or on the Reading Rainbow website at http://www.readingrainbow.com, which also includes more information about Reading Rainbow.  Enjoy the video and notice that he is reading the book from a tablet, times have changed!
