Last year, Avery Robertson sat in a sleigh being pulled by huge wooden reindeer.  He went out each night between Thanksgiving and Christmas and waved to the traffic passing by along McIntosh Road in Oxford Alabama.  Along with him waving to traffic, the entire yard was decked out with many Christmas decorations.

It takes many Christmas decorations and flood lights to make the entire yard look like a Christmas wonderland.  Every night from around 5:30 – 8:30 pm, you will see Avery Robertson playing Santa Claus and sitting in his big red sleigh and he wants the drivers to honk their horns!   On Friday and Saturday nights, people are invited to come out to enjoy some hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.  You can sing along with some Christmas carols and the kids can sit in Santa’s lap.  In the third year of doing this, things are going to get even bigger!

Starting on Thanksgiving night from 5 – 7 pm, you will see Santa Claus waving to the traffic along McIntosh Road.  On Sunday – Thursday nights from around 5:30 – 8:30 pm through Christmas Eve, Santa Claus will be out to wave to traffic at The Robertson’s home along McIntosh Road.  As long as the weather is not bad, you will see Santa Claus out each night.  On Friday and Saturday nights, they will be serving hot chocolate, cookies, singing Christmas carols, and doing other stuff.  And on two Friday nights in December (13th and 20th), there will be some big things going on!  On those nights, a rescue helicopter will be landing at around 5:30 pm.  And kids from Oxford Elementary School have been invited to come out on those two nights as well.

The best part about this event is its free!  They will also have a donation box because you can imagine it costs a lot of money on the power bill to run all of those lights!  To find The Robertson’s home along McIntosh Road, go south from exit 188 at Interstate 20 along Leon Smith Parkway, about two miles down the road, the house will be on the right!  To learn more about Friendship Santa, go to: https://www.facebook.com/Friendshipsanta
