Music Thursdays: Jason Crabb’s Love Is Stronger Featuring Ashley Deramus

Geek Alabama Music Thursdays

Country singer Jason Crabb is debuting his new music video “Love Is Stronger” next week on Country Music Television and Great American Country.  But his music video is already on YouTube where you can view it below!  And the music video was filmed around the Birmingham Alabama Metro.  The music video features Ashley DeRamus, a young woman with Down Syndrome who is a Fashion Designer, Entrepreneur, Motivational speaker and more.  Enjoy the music video below!

So who is Ashley DeRamus you ask?  Well she is around 30 years old and she loves swimming, acting, fashion, shopping, sailing, ziplining, gospel music, singing, and public speaking.  When people meet Ashley they are immediately struck by her beauty, personality, poise, and sense of humor.  Ashley lives her life to the fullest and will eagerly share her story with others.  She has 43 swimming medals she has won at the Special Olympics state games, she has recited the Pledge of Allegiance at places like the Rose Bowl Parade, the Grand Canyon, and aboard the USS Massachusetts Battleship at the HMS Bounty memorial service, to name a few.  Most recently she had the honor of being interviewed at the United Nations in New York City concerning job opportunities for adults with special needs and empowerment.

Ashley spent time aboard the HMS Bounty Tall Ship during the summer of 2012 from Savannah to Nova Scotia.  The ship stopped at ports to take donations for her bracelets which raised enough money to award scholarships for four babies to attend the Bell Center for Early Intervention for 1 year.  In addition to fundraising and advocacy, Ashley has started a clothing line specially tailored for Down syndrome young ladies called Ashley By Design.  Ashley is a little different than the average entrepreneur, traveler, and adventurer, though.  She lives out all these roles with Down syndrome.  When asked what words of advice she has for other special need adults and children Ashley said, “Just be yourself.”

It’s good to have a person like Ashley Deramus being successful in life.  See, anyone with a disability can be successful in life!  I have Asperger’s Syndrome but I take great photos, videos, and write very well!  For any of you who has a mental or physical disability.  You can lead a successful life!  Go for it!
