Help Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary To Raise The Fence

Advertisements

Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in Locust Grove, Georgia was founded in 1991 and their mission is very simple.  They are an animal rescue organization focused on rescuing extremely abused animals. They rescue exotic, wildlife, and farm animals, and they are the permanent home of over 1,200 creatures.  Noah’s Ark rehabs 100’s of animals yearly through their Wild Life Rehabilitation program.  They are also devoted to rescuing and providing a permanent home for animals that have been abused, abandoned, or neglected, as well as animals who are surrendered for many different reasons.  They also provide a forever home for animals who come from breeding facilities or have become surplus animals.

Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary has approximately 1,200 animals that includes over 100 different species and the animals lives in as natural a habitat as possible with top of the line medical care, nutrition and enrichment.  It costs Noah’s Ark approximately $33,000 per month to feed and care for the animals.  The sanctuary is also an exhibit with visiting hours and they do not charge admission.  Yes, they are completely donation funded.  Noah’s Ark benefits through DragonCon and they got $43,612 this past year and they were voted as the favorite charity out of the three charities DragonCon supports.  Now, Noah’s Ark is facing a serious problem.  And it comes from requirements from the federal government.

New USDA, Department of Natural Resources, and Georgia Fish and Game rules are requiring rescues like Noah’s Ark to raise the height of fences to 16 feet high to protect the outside public just in case an animal gets loose.  For Noah’s Ark, this means they have to double the height of their fences.  This project will cost nearly $500,000 and the sanctuary is running a crowdsourcing campaign to raise the money they need to raise the height of the fences!

They are running a crowdsourcing campaign through CrowdRise and they are asking people like you to donate to this project.  The thing is, they need this money ASAP or they risk being shut down by the local governments.  And until 4 pm central on Tuesday September 24th, CrowdRise is running the #startaryot challenge.  As of right now, Noah’s Ark is in first place and if they stay in first place when the contest closes, they will get an additional $75,000 towards the Raise The Fence project.

Also, Noah’s Ark will be hosting the first annual Fall Festival on Saturday September 28th from 11 am to 5 pm.  There will be vendors for a little early Christmas shopping, food vendors, face painting, photo booth, caricature artists and more!  Raffles, Auctions, fun for everyone AND a Talent Show where first place will get $250.  Learn more about the Fall Festival by going to: https://www.facebook.com/events/452930468156226/  And since I am going to be in Atlanta on Saturday, I might make a visit to take pictures and video!
