Geek Alabama keeps growing everyone, and now The Hub Network has noticed the Geek Alabama blog and has sent me a e-mail about this great contest that is open to anyone!  If you enjoy wearing Halloween costumes, this contest is for you!

In preparation for the 1st annual Halloween Bash, the Hub Network is kicking things off with a nationwide costume competition, which is open from now until Sunday September 29.  Fifty semi-finalists representing each state in America will win a trip to Los Angeles to be a part of the two-hour star-studded event.  This prize is big!  One lucky winner will take home $25,000 and will have a chance at a walk-on role on the Hub Network’s Daytime Emmy® Award-winning series, “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series.”

If you want to enter this contest, there are a couple of basic rules.  One, no pre-made costumes are allowed!  Some store-bought props for your original costume are permitted, but homemade is better!  Two, no existing characters or logos are allowed!  I am sure some Bronies are disappointed with that rule!  Three, your costume must be family friendly and nothing obscene or offensive is allowed, The Hub Network is family friendly you know!  Watch this video to learn the rules!

The Hub Network’s First Annual Halloween Bash costume competition is open to all ages, including individuals or a maximum of five people per group submission.  Participants are encouraged to create eye-popping, hair-raising and spooky costumes within one of the following six categories:

Howl-arious – Shows the lighter side of Halloween with a take on a fun, funny or otherwise hilarious costume.

Spook-tacular – Get ready to frighten America by showcasing the most spine-chilling costume for all the ghosts and ghouls out there.

Mad Genius – Unique, original, innovative and never seen before. A knight in armor fashioned from bottle caps, bat wings made from old umbrellas, or a cardboard-box jetpack, the possibilities are endless. Display a costume unlike any other — show your Mad Genius.

Blast from the Past – Take a stroll down memory lane with a timeless costume. Memories, nostalgia and yesteryear brought to life. Show your take on great figures from before the 20thcentury or a retro 50’s sock hop get up, 60’s flower child or other “period” inspired costumes.

Animal Kingdom – Transform into a living creature from the past or present. Be a roaring lion, a school of jellyfish, a firefly, or a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Everyday Stuff – We’re looking for the coolest refrigerator/freezer, remote control, mailbox, block of Swiss cheese, telephone and more.  Be creative and transform the ordinary into the extra-ordinary.

For you people who are too scared to wear a Halloween costume, come on now!  The Hub Network will present the top costumes from Hollywood during the 1st annual Hub Network Halloween Bash.  The special will be hosted by Kenan Thompson from Saturday Night Live and Kenan and Kel.  Take a look at the promo featuring Kenan Thompson wearing multiple Halloween costumes!

One of the judges in the Halloween Bash will be Martha Stewart, and she knows a thing or two about fashion and design.  The other judges will be actor Hal Sparks and actress, singer and dancer Coco Jones.  And for you girls out there, The Hub Network recently made a major announcement!  16-year-old pop star Cody Simpson will be performing during the special!

Simpson’s recently released sophomore album “Surfers Paradise” debuted TOP 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and features the first single “Pretty Brown Eyes.”  He recently wrapped a major North American headline tour and also toured alongside Justin Bieber on Bieber’s “Believe Tour.”  Simpson will release his first book, entitled “Welcome To Paradise: My Journey” in October.  And his latest song “La Da Dee” will be heard as the end credits song in Sony Pictures Animation’s “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.”

Even if you are not into the Halloween costumes or Cody Simpson, the Halloween Bash will still have something for you!  And the special will be fun for the entire family, that’s what The Hub Network is all about!  The sponsors for the special includes Activision’s Skylanders SWAP Force, Hasbro’s Furby Boom! and Party City.  The two-hour special will premiere Saturday October 26 at 8 pm Eastern / 5 pm Pacific on The Hub Network.  (Cable One Anniston channel number 342)  To learn more about the 1st annual Hub Network Halloween Bash and to enter your costume, go to: http://www.hubhalloweenbash.com/
